La Page d’écriture

Henri Huguenin

Known primarily as a medallist in the region, Huguenin – who came from a family of watchmakers in Le Locle – was fascinated by the human figure, particularly the theme of childhood. The models he created in his personal work, particularly for his pastel and pencil studies, were born of observation of his own children but tended towards the universal, seeking the right attitude and gesture, evoking both emotion and tenderness. In La Page d’écriture, the motif echoes the figure of the mother teaching her child, a common feature of traditional Western iconography.
