La page d’écriture

Henri Huguenin
sans date

Known primarily as a medalist in the region, Huguenin – who came from a family of watchmakers in Le Locle – was fascinated by the human figure, and in particular by the theme of childhood. Born of observation of his own children, but tending towards the universal, the models he created in his personal work, notably for his pastel and pencil studies, seek the right attitude and gesture, evoking both emotion and tenderness. In La Page d’écriture, the motif echoes the figure of the mother teaching her child, common in traditional Western iconography.
