This summer, at the initiative of the Exomusée, French street artist Levalet will create an installation on one of the museum’s facades. In keeping with the Exomusée’s concept, the work will be displayed outdoors on a permanent basis, so that the public can view it for free at any time. Its theme will be the philosophical thought of a famous figure in the labor movement, Mikhail Bakunin, who died on July 1, 1876, in Bern—exactly 150 years before the opening date. The location of the work is no coincidence, as it was at the Café de la Poste—just a stone’s throw from the MBAL—that Bakunin gave a lecture in Le Locle on February 21, 1869.
On the program:
Introduction by the Exomusée: brief presentations of the artist and the work
Loop screening: excerpt from the film “Jura libertaire,” produced by CAVE
Public reading: excerpts from Bakunin’s writings.
