Somatic drawing

27.08.2025, 14:00

The workshop offers participants the chance to express themselves vividly by drawing on human-sized paper, with their eyes closed, following the flow of their own bodies, and to music. This workshop sets aside any expectation of producing “beauty”, since the cathartic expression of its participants is at the heart of the subject through a free mode of expression calling on the movements of the whole body. The workshop begins with an exercise on a small format, to reconnect intuition with wrist and pencil, before moving on to the larger drawings, which call on the choreography of movement on paper of the same format as the person drawing. This workshop lasts two hours, with a break in the middle, and is aimed for 14 to 18 year-olds.

About the artist
Augusta Lardy Micheli, born in 1994 in Geneva, is a Swiss artist. She holds a degree in Philosophy from King’s College London and in Fine Arts from the City and Guilds of London Art School. She was the recipient of the Freelands Foundation Painting Prize in 2021. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions in Madrid (Galeria Belmonte), Paris (Galerie DS), and Mexico City (Karen Huber).

The artist explores a “living painting” where the materials and pigments invite her to let go of control and allow the essence of the work to emerge. Her process, rooted in the body and somatic memory, can lead her to radically transform her techniques, moving from painting to sculpture, printmaking, or oxidation. With her experimental approach, she questions the essence of the image, seeking to reduce it to its core.
