This spring, the MBAL unveils the backstage of its collection and offers a sensitive and plural tribute to the landscapes of the Neuchâtel region through the lively hymns of contemporary artists Augusta Lardy Micheli and Jonathan Llense and the creations of students from the Cercle scolaire du Locle.

Attention, collection

Drawing attention to the collection, ensuring its preservation and linking it to the contemporary world: this is the MBAL’s mission, its pride and its challenge. Established in 1862 by enthusiasts long before the museum was founded, the collection brings together some 5,000 works by Swiss and international artists from the 17th century to the present day.
The museum’s team unveils a behind-the-scenes look at the collection and its complex management, through a wide selection of objects, presented according to keywords inspired by an imaginary archiving program, with all its limits and mysteries.

Three contemporary artists – Plonk et Replonk-Bébert, Ufuoma Essi and Virginie Delannoy – help create surprising encounters between the works and reflect on stories that are written in a museum setting.

Augusta Lardy Micheli – Metaxu, Les rives où vivent mes songes

Augusta Lardy Micheli invites us to contemplate a universe that is both interior and exterior, through the notion of Metaxu (from the Greek, that which is ‘in between’). For the artist: ‘Metaxu is the paint that binds the soul and the body, the landscapes seen and the landscapes known. The shores where my dreams live are the banks of Lake Neuchâtel, which have flooded my imagination since childhood. What are these creatures, trees and glaciers that are no more? What is it about this too-hot summer night that wakes me ? This feeling of anguish is inexhaustible, and nothing will stop it from being vividly expressed through the Metaxu, which is the act of painting’.

Jonathan Llense – Par le biais

A photographer with a sculptor’s eye, Jonathan Llense creates playful, unexpected images from found objects, transformed into precarious compositions that take on their full meaning in the instantaneous. Rather than a simple representation of reality, he creates serious jokes in which photography and sculpture merge.

With Par le biais, Llense draws on his archives and, commissioned by the museum, creates an original portrait of the town of Le Locle, combining photographs, local stories and busts from the collection. Water becomes a common thread, structuring an itinerary of 28 ‘fountains’. Between clarity and confusion, he invites us to take a fresh look, oscillating between humour and absurdity, in a spirit of freedom and irreverence.

Cercle Scolaire du Locle – bien vivre ensemble

The Commune of Le Locle places quality of life at the heart of its concerns. As part of a collaborative project involving several local institutions, pupils from the Cercle Scolaire have been reflecting on ‘living well together’ – an essential value for learning, growing and interacting in harmony. By different classes and with their teachers, the children identified key principles – respect, politeness, fair play, etc. – and illustrated them in paintings, posters, crafts and sound effects.

For the first time, the creations of pupils in Years 9 to 11 will be exhibited at the MBAL in the Salle Marie-Anne Calame and the adjacent space as genuine works of art, while entering into dialogue with a selection of works from the museum’s collection.

This project is being run by the CSLL’s Service Promotion Santé Jeunesse et le Service Socio-Éducatif, with the support of the school management.

Diesen Frühling wirft das MBAL einen Blick hinter die Kulissen seiner Sammlung und präsentiert eine sensible und vielfältige Hommage an die Landschaften der Region Neuenburg. Die Hymnen der zeitgenössischen Künstler Augusta Lardy Micheli und Jonathan Llense sowie die Kreationen der Schülerinnen und Schüler des Cercle scolaire du Locle werden gezeigt.

Attention, collection

Die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Sammlung zu lenken, ihre Erhaltung zu gewährleisten und sie mit der Zeitgenossenschaft zu verbinden: Das ist die Aufgabe des MBAL, sein Stolz und seine Herausforderung. Die Sammlung wurde 1862, lange vor der Gründung des Museums, von leidenschaftlichen Sammlern zusammengestellt und umfasst rund 5000 Werke von Schweizer und internationalen Künstlern aus dem 17.

Das Museumsteam wirft einen Blick hinter die Kulissen dieser Sammlung und ihrer komplexen Verwaltung anhand einer großen Auswahl von Objekten, die nach Stichwörtern präsentiert werden, die von einer imaginären Archivierungssoftware inspiriert sind, mit all ihren Grenzen und Geheimnissen.

Drei zeitgenössische Künstler – Plonk et Replonk-Bébert, Ufuoma Essi und Virginie Delannoy – tragen dazu bei, überraschende Begegnungen zwischen den Werken zu schaffen und über die Geschichten nachzudenken, die in einem musealen Dispositiv geschrieben werden.

Augusta Lardy Micheli – Metaxu, Les rives où vivent mes songes

Augusta Lardy Micheli lädt uns mit dem Begriff Metaxu (aus dem Griechischen, das, was „in der Lücke“ ist) zur Betrachtung eines Universums ein, das gleichzeitig innerlich und äußerlich ist. Die Künstlerin meint: „Metaxu ist die Malerei, die Seele und Körper, die gesehenen und die bekannten Landschaften verbindet. Die Ufer, an denen meine Träume leben; das sind die Ufer des Neuenburger Sees, die seit meiner Kindheit meine Vorstellungskraft gesättigt haben. Was sind das für Kreaturen, Bäume und Gletscher, die es nicht mehr gibt? Was ist diese viel zu warme Sommernacht, die mich weckt? Dieses Gefühl der Angst ist unerschöpflich und nichts wird seinen lebendigen Ausdruck durch den Metaxu, der der Akt des Malens ist, verhindern.“

Jonathan Llense – Par le biais

Jonathan Llense, Fotograf mit dem Blick eines Bildhauers, komponiert verspielte und unerwartete Bilder aus gefundenen Gegenständen, die in prekäre Kompositionen verwandelt werden, die im Augenblick ihren ganzen Sinn erhalten. Statt einer einfachen Abbildung der Realität schafft er ernsthafte Scherze, in denen Fotografie und Skulptur miteinander verschmelzen.

Mit Par le biais greift Llense auf sein Archiv zurück und komponiert anlässlich eines Auftrags des Museums ein originelles Porträt der Stadt Le Locle, das Fotografien, lokale Erzählungen und Büsten aus der Sammlung miteinander verbindet. Das Wasser wird zum Leitmotiv, das einen Parcours mit 28 „Brunnen“ strukturiert. Zwischen Reinheit und Trübung lädt er zu einem neuen Blick ein, der zwischen Humor und Absurdität schwankt und an einen freien und respektlosen Geist anknüpft.

Cercle Scolaire du Locle – Bien vivre ensemble

Die Gemeinde Le Locle stellt die Lebensqualität in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Bemühungen. Im Rahmen eines Gemeinschaftsprojekts zwischen mehreren lokalen Institutionen haben die Schülerinnen und Schüler des Cercle scolaire über das „gute Zusammenleben“ nachgedacht – ein wesentlicher Wert, um in Harmonie zu lernen, zu wachsen und zu interagieren. In Klassen und mit ihren Lehrerinnen und Lehrern identifizierten die Kinder Schlüsselprinzipien – Respekt, Höflichkeit, Fairplay… – und illustrierten sie in Gemälden, Postern, Bastelarbeiten oder Hörstücken.

Zum ersten Mal werden die Kreationen der Schülerinnen und Schüler der Klassen 9 bis 11 im MBAL im Marie-Anne Calame-Saal und dem angrenzenden Raum wie echte Kunstwerke ausgestellt und treten gleichzeitig in einen Dialog mit einer Auswahl von Werken aus der Sammlung des Museums.

Dieses Projekt wird von le Service Promotion Santé Jeunesse et le Service Socio-Éducatif CSLL getragen und von der Schulleitung unterstützt.

Questa primavera, il MBAL svela il dietro le quinte della sua collezione, rendendo omaggio ai paesaggi della regione di Neuchâtel con uno sguardo sensibile e variegato. Attraverso le opere vivaci degli artisti contemporanei Augusta Lardy Micheli e Jonathan Llense, insieme alle creazioni degli alunni del Cercle scolaire du Locle, il museo celebra la bellezza e la diversità del territorio.

Attention, collection

Mettere in risalto la collezione, garantirne la conservazione e farla dialogare con il mondo contemporaneo: questa è la missione, l’orgoglio e la sfida del MBAL. Creata nel 1862 da un gruppo di appassionati, ben prima della fondazione del museo, la collezione comprende circa 5.000 opere di artisti svizzeri e internazionali, dal XVII secolo a oggi.

Il team del museo invita a scoprire il dietro le quinte della collezione e la complessità della sua gestione attraverso un’ampia selezione di oggetti, presentati secondo parole chiave ispirate a un ipotetico programma di archiviazione, con tutte le sue ambiguità e i suoi misteri.

Tre artisti contemporanei – Plonk et Replonk-Bébert, Ufuoma Essi e Virginie Delannoy – arricchiscono il percorso con inaspettati rimandi tra le opere, offrendo spunti di riflessione sulle storie che prendono vita all’interno di un museo.

Augusta Lardy Micheli – Metaxu, Les rives où vivent mes songes

Augusta Lardy Micheli ci invita a esplorare un universo interiore ed esteriore attraverso il concetto di Metaxu (dal greco “in mezzo”). Per l’artista: « Metaxu è la pittura che unisce anima e corpo, paesaggi visti e paesaggi interiorizzati. Le rive dove vivono i miei sogni sono quelle del lago di Neuchâtel, che ha nutrito la mia immaginazione sin dall’infanzia. Cosa sono queste creature, questi alberi e questi ghiacciai che non esistono più? Cosa mi scuote in questa notte estiva troppo calda? Questo senso di angoscia è inesauribile, e nulla potrà impedirmi di esprimerlo in modo vivido attraverso il Metaxu, che è l’atto stesso di dipingere”.

Jonathan Llense – Par le biais

Fotografo con l’occhio di uno scultore, Jonathan Llense crea immagini giocose e inaspettate partendo da oggetti trovati, trasformati in composizioni precarie che acquistano il loro pieno significato nell’istante. Piuttosto che limitarsi a rappresentare la realtà, dà vita a scherzi seri in cui fotografia e scultura si fondono.

Con Par le biais, Llense attinge ai suoi archivi e, su commissione del museo, realizza un ritratto originale della città di Le Locle, combinando fotografie, storie locali e busti della collezione. L’acqua diventa il filo conduttore, strutturando un percorso di 28 “fontane”. Tra purezza e caos, invita a uno sguardo nuovo, sospeso tra umorismo e assurdità, facendo rivivere uno spirito libero e irriverente.

Cercle Scolaire du Locle – Bien vivre ensemble

Il Comune di Le Locle mette la qualità della vita al centro delle sue priorità. Nell’ambito di un progetto collaborativo che coinvolge diverse istituzioni locali, gli alunni del Cercle Scolaire hanno riflettuto sul concetto del vivere bene insieme, un valore fondamentale per imparare, crescere e interagire in armonia.

Guidati dai loro insegnanti, i bambini hanno individuato i principi chiave – rispetto, educazione, correttezza… – e li hanno rappresentati attraverso dipinti, poster, oggetti artigianali e installazioni sonore.

Per la prima volta, le creazioni degli alunni delle classi 9-11 saranno esposte al MBAL, nella Salle Marie-Anne Calame e nello spazio adiacente, come vere e proprie opere d’arte, instaurando un dialogo con una selezione di lavori della collezione del museo.

Questo progetto è organizzato dal Service Promotion Santé Jeunesse et dal Service Socio-Éducatif du CSLL, con il supporto della direzione scolastica.
