Jeanne Jacob
Beim Durchqueren von Saal 1 entdecken wir rund hundert Darstellungen der Ikone Mickey Mouse von Jeanne Jacob, in Öl auf Papier oder als Digitaldrucke, die die Originale ersetzen. Die Serie Mickey Fluid ist inspiriert von einem Werk von Markus Raetz, einer abstrakten Skulptur aus mehreren Teilen, die, separat angeordnet, aus einem bestimmten Blickwinkel die Silhouette von Mickey Mouse erkennen lassen. Was Jacob an diesem Werk fasziniert, ist der schnelle Wechsel zwischen Abstraktion und Figuration sowie die Leichtigkeit, mit der eine ikonische Figur erkannt wird. Diese fast sofortige Wiedererkennung verdeutlicht die Kraft des kollektiven Bildes und die damit einhergehenden Projektionsmechanismen. Mickey Fluid befasst sich somit mit der Wechselwirkung zwischen individueller Rezeption und gemeinsamer Vorstellung: Die Ikone erscheint darin nie als etwas Feststehendes, sondern als eine instabile, sich ständig verändernde Figur, deren Züge sich je nach Subjektivität jedes Betrachters und jeder Betrachterin verschieben. Die Idee eines fliessenden, sich ständig wandelnden Mickey wurde in einem Künstlerbuch fortgeführt, das die ganze Serie enthält. Hier werden 72 Originalcover präsentiert, für deren Realisierung Jacob vor jedem Druck direkt auf die Siebdruckleinwand gemalt hat.
Ergänzend zu dieser Serie sind in Saal 4 und zwischen den Sälen 5 und 6 des Museums drei weitere Gemälde von Jeanne Jacob zu sehen. Sie zeugen von der Bedeutung kleiner, intimer Gesten sowie vom Wert der Zusammenarbeit in der Praxis der Künstlerin.

As we move through Room 1, we discover around a hundred representations of the icon Mickey Mouse created by Jeanne Jacob, painted in oil on paper or presented as digital prints in place of the missing originals. The series Mickey Fluid is inspired by a work by Markus Raetz, an abstract multi-part sculpture, which reveals Mickey Mouse’s silhouette from a precise viewpoint. What fascinates Jacob in this work is the rapid shift between abstraction and figuration, as well as the ease with which an iconic figure is recognised. This almost immediate identification highlights the power of collective imagery and the projection mechanisms that accompany it. Mickey Fluid thus explores the relationship between individual perception and the collective imagination: the icon never appears fixed, but rather as an unstable figure in constant mutation, whose features shift according to the viewer’s subjectivity. The idea of a fluid and ever-changing Mickey was extended into an artist’s book bringing together the series. Seventy-two original covers are presented here; to create them, Jacob painted directly onto the silkscreen mesh before each print.
Echoing this series, three other paintings by Jacob can be seen in Room 4 and between Rooms 5 and 6 of the museum. They reflect the importance of minimal, intimate gestures and to the valuable role of collaboration in the artist’s practice.

Attraversando lo spazio della Sala 1 scopriamo circa cento rappresentazioni dell’icona Mickey Mouse realizzate da Jeanne Jacob, dipinte a olio su carta o come stampe digitali che sostituiscono gli originali. La serie Mickey Fluid si ispira a un’opera di Markus Raetz, una scultura astratta composta da più elementi che, disposti separatamente, rivelano da un punto di vista preciso la figura di Mickey Mouse.
Ciò che affascina Jacob in quest’opera è la rapidità con cui si passa dall’astrazione alla figurazione, così come la facilità con cui una figura iconica viene riconosciuta. Questo riconoscimento quasi immediato mette in evidenza la forza dell’immagine collettiva e i meccanismi di proiezione che la accompagnano.
Mickey Fluid esplora quindi l’interazione tra la ricezione individuale e l’immaginario comune: l’icona non appare mai fissa, ma come una figura instabile, in continua trasformazione, i cui tratti si spostano secondo la soggettività di ogni spettatore.
L’idea di un Mickey fluido, sempre in trasformazione, è stata estesa anche a un libro d’artista che contiene la serie. Qui sono presentate 72 copertine originali, per la cui realizzazione Jacob ha dipinto direttamente sulla tela serigrafica prima di ogni stampa.
In eco a questa serie, nella Sala 4 e tra le Sale 5 e 6 del museo si possono vedere altre tre pitture di Jeanne Jacob. Queste testimoniano l’importanza di gesti minimi e intimi, nonché il valore della collaborazione nella pratica dell’artista.
