We look forward to welcoming you to the MBAL from October 11th 2025 to March 1st 2026 to discover the museum’s new cycle of exhibitions. Between sculpture, painting, photography and design, four solo shows by internationally renowned artists will joyfully invade the rooms of the museum. For autumn 2025, the MBAL will be hosting a dialogue between technical experimentation, contemporary creations, reflections and works from the museum’s collection.

Koenraad Dedobbeleer opens this cycle of exhibitions with a project previewed at the 13th edition of Art Genève in January 2025. For his exhibition at the MBAL, Decorative Chaos Dress, to Impress, the artist draws on a selection of anonymous works from the museum’s collection, reinterpreting them to give them a new visibility and a resolutely contemporary reading.

With Toutes le savent, même les anges, the Swiss artist and recent winner of the prestigious Meret Oppenheim Prize (2022), Klodin Erb unveils a singular pictorial universe, where expression, fantasy and references to popular, digital and artistic culture intertwine. Her experimental approach constantly pushes back the boundaries of the media she works with.

The museum is presenting the research work of French artist Agnès Geoffray and curator Vanessa Desclaux. In a co-production with the Rencontres d’Arles festival, Elles obliquent elles obstinent elles tempêtent examines the lives of young girls labelled as “deviant” and their treatment by society, giving them a voice and a desire for emancipation.

Swiss conceptual artist Urs Lüthi takes over the museum galleries with L’une ou l’autre vérité. By placing some of his most iconic works in dialogue with previously unseen creations, the artist will be revealing a new facet of his artistic thinking, which questions notions of identity and self-representation with finesse and irony.

Finally, the MBAL invites Théophile Calot, director of the delpire & co bookshop (Paris), to present the Books and Bookends exhibition in the museum’s new library space. On this occasion, artisans and designers Elvire Bonduelle, Dieudonné Cartier, Atelier Jonathan Cohen, Cléo Charuet, Nathalie Dewez, Atelier Laisser Passer, Louis Lefebvre, Jeanne Tresvaux Du Fraval and Laure Gremion will present original bookends in dialogue with a selection of books from the MBAL collection.

Wir erwarten Sie vom 11. Oktober 2025 bis zum 1. März 2026 im MBAL, um mit Ihnen die neue Ausstellungsreihe des Museums zu entdecken. Diese widmet sich dem Dialog zwischen technischen Experimenten, zeitgenössischen Kreationen und Werken aus der Sammlung. Skulptur, Malerei, Fotografie und Design bilden dabei das Spektrum, in dem sich fünf Einzelausstellungen international renommierter Künstler*innen entfalten und die Museumsräume bespielen.

Der belgische Künstler Koenraad Dedobbeleer eröffnet diesen Zyklus mit einem Projekt, das im Januar 2025 auf der 13. Ausgabe der Kunstmesse Art Genève erstmals präsentiert wurde. Für seine Ausstellung im MBAL, Decorative Chaos Dress, to Impress, geht der Künstler von einer Auswahl anonymer Werke aus der Museumssammlung aus, die er neu interpretiert und mit eigenen, bislang unveröffentlichten Arbeiten kombiniert, um ihnen eine neue, zeitgenössische Lesart zu verleihen.

Mit Toutes le savent, même les anges enthüllt die Schweizer Künstlerin Klodin Erb, Trägerin des renommierten Prix Meret Oppenheim im 2022, ein einzigartiges malerisches Universum, in dem sich imaginäre Welten mit Bezügen zur Pop-, Digital- und Kunstkultur verweben. Ihr experimenteller Ansatz führt sie zudem stets dazu, die Grenzen der von ihr verwendeten Medien zu überschreiten.

Das Museum präsentiert die Forschungsarbeit der französischen Künstlerin Agnès Geoffray und der Kuratorin Vanessa Desclaux. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Festival Rencontres d’Arles hinterfragt Elles obliquent elles obstinent elles tempêtent den Werdegang junger Mädchen, die als „abweichend” bezeichnet werden, und ihre Behandlung durch die Gesellschaft, indem es ihnen eine Stimme und den Willen zur Emanzipation gibt.

Der Schweizer Konzeptkünstler Urs Lüthi bespielt die Museumssäle mit L’une ou l’autre vérité. Er bringt einige seiner ikonischsten Werke mit neuen Kreationen in Dialog und führt damit seine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit den Konzepten von Identität und Selbstrepräsentation fort, die er mit Feinsinn und Ironie untersucht.

Nicht zuletzt lädt das MBAL Théophile Calot, Leiter der Buchhandlung delpire & co (Paris), ein, in der neuen Bibliothek des Museums die Ausstellung Books and Bookends zu präsentieren. Zu diesem Anlass stellen die Kunsthandwerker und Designer Elvire Bonduelle, Dieudonné Cartier, Atelier Jonathan Cohen, Cléo Charuet, Nathalie Dewez, Atelier Laisser Passer, Louis Lefebvre, Jeanne Tresvaux Du Fraval und Laure Gremion originelle Buchstützen aus, die durch eine Auswahl von Bänden aus der MBAL-Sammlung „aktiviert“ werden.

Vi aspettiamo al MBAL dall’11 ottobre 2025 al 1° marzo 2026 per scoprire il nuovo ciclo di mostre del museo, che si aprirà al dialogo tra sperimentazioni tecniche, creazioni contemporanee, riflessioni e opere della collezione. Tra scultura, pittura, fotografia e design, cinque mostre personali di artisti di fama internazionale animeranno le sette sale del museo.

L’artista belga Koenraad Dedobbeleer apre questo ciclo con un progetto presentato in anteprima alla 13a edizione di Art Genève nel gennaio 2025. Per la sua mostra al MBAL, Decorative Chaos Dress, to Impress, l’artista parte da una selezione di opere anonime provenienti dalla collezione del museo, che reinterpreta ed accosta a sue opere inedite per offrirne  una nuova lettura in chiave decisamente contemporanea.

Con Toutes le savent, même les anges, l’artista svizzera Klodin Erb, vincitrice del prestigioso Prix Meret Oppenheim nel 2022, svela un universo pittorico singolare, in cui si intrecciano mondi immaginari e riferimenti alla cultura popolare, digitale e artistica. Il suo approccio sperimentale la porta inoltre a spingersi sempre oltre i limiti dei media con cui lavora.

Il museo presenta poi il lavoro di ricerca condotto dall’artista francese Agnès Geoffray e dalla curatrice Vanessa Desclaux. In coproduzione con il festival Rencontres d’Arles, Elles obliquent elles obstinent elles tempêtent (Esse si ribellano esse si ostinano esse si scatenano) indaga il percorso di ragazze definite “devianti” e il trattamento loro riservato da parte della società, dando voce alla volontà di emancipazione che é stata loro negata.

L’artista concettuale svizzero Urs Lüthi occupa le sale del museo con L’une ou l’autre vérité. Mettendo in dialogo alcune delle sue opere più iconiche con creazioni inedite, prosegue la sua riflessione artistica sui concetti di identità e rappresentazione di sé, che indaga con finezza e ironia.

L’ MBAL invita infine Théophile Calot, direttore della libreria delpire & co (Parigi), a presentare nella nuova biblioteca del museo la mostra Books and Bookends. Per l’occasione, gli artigiani e designer Elvire Bonduelle, Dieudonné Cartier, Atelier Jonathan Cohen, Cléo Charuet, Nathalie Dewez, Atelier Laisser Passer, Louis Lefebvre, Jeanne Tresvaux Du Fraval e Laure Gremion esporranno fermalibri originali « attivati » da una selezione di volumi della collezione MBAL.
